Portrait of Costas Vournas

Costas Vournas

Emeritus Professor, NTUA

Costas Vournas received the Diploma of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens in 1975, the M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan, Canada, in 1978, and the NTUA Doctor of Engineering degree in 1986. He has been a Professor in the Electrical Energy Systems Laboratory of the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at NTUA, and co-authored the book Voltage Stability of Electric Power Systems.

His research interests are in power system dynamics, stability and control, and include voltage stability and security analysis, wind generator integration, novel control applications in the distribution and transmission grid, and the effect of deregulation on power system operation and control.

Vassilis Nikolaidis

Assistant Professor, NTUA

Vassilis Nikolaidis received the Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Democritus University of Thrace, Xanthi, Greece, in 2001, the M.Sc. degree in Energy Production and Management from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Athens, Greece, in 2002, and the Ph.D. degree in power system stability from NTUA in 2007.

Since 2003, he has been working as a power systems consulting engineer, undertaking projects in power system planning, protection, control, stability, and transients. He is currently an Assistant Professor with the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at NTUA. His research interests include power system protection, control, and stability.

Panos Mandoulidis

Senior Power Systems Engineer

Panos Mandoulidis received the Diploma of Electrical Engineering from NTUA in 2010, specialising in power systems dynamics and control. He worked as a control systems engineer from 2012 to 2015, and has worked as a power systems engineer since. In 2021 he received the Doctor of Engineering from NTUA, specialising in voltage stability of bulk power systems and real-time system monitoring.

He has delivered projects in power systems planning, transmission expansion and operational planning for clients in the renewable energy and oil and gas sectors, as well as for transmission system operators.

Giorgos Prionistis

Senior Power Systems Engineer

Giorgos Prionistis received the Diploma of Electrical and Computer Engineering from NTUA in 2018 and the Doctor of Engineering in 2024, with a thesis on methods for maximising power system voltage stability margins using active distribution networks. He was then a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Liège, on the cyber-physical security of power systems.

He acts as managing director and works on the company's projects: voltage stability and margin assessment, steady-state, RMS and EMT studies, and operational planning.
